Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. In our work together, I’ll help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing. In fact, you will probably discover that what you perceive to be your flaws and weaknesses, are actually your greatest strengths.
A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, counseling is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business.”
As short as possible and as long as it takes. I practice a form of CBT that is short-term oriented and solution and skill focused. My goal is for you to learn these skills and become your own therapist as soon as possible.
Before we have our first intake session, you will receive a number of forms to fill out as well as an intake questionnaire to provide us with background information about you and what you might be looking for help with. At the first intake session, we will delve into this further and set up the goals for what you would like to achieve in therapy. After that, we are ready to get to work!
TEAM-CBT is not just another school of therapy, instead it is a framework for using Testing, Empathy, Agenda-setting and Methods to provide rapid recovery.
